At Saxton VFC, we take training seriously. Chief Taylor's favorite saying is, "Train as if your life depends on it, because it does!" Training not only keep us safe, but it also allows us to stay up-to-date on changing techniques for firefighting and rescue operations. It also ensures we effectively and efficiently do the job we are called to. In most everything we do, we are racing the clock. If it's a car crash, your odds are greatly improved if you arrive at a trauma center within 60 minutes of the crash. We want to ensure we get you there within that Golden Hour. Fires quickly double in size. Most of our area is not covered by hydrants, so it is imperative that we get to work as soon as we arrive on scene. Don't confuse effectiveness with recklessness--we aim to do everything we do with a purpose!
THAT'S WHY WE TRAIN!
