Members of Company 35 and Unit 15 interrupted a dinner theater event at their station tonight. At approximately 1830, Rescue 35 and Unit 15 were dispatched for a two vehicle MVC in the area of Happy Hollow. Dispatch relayed that one vehicle rolled several times and there were entrapped occupants. Dispatch also relayed smoke coming from the wreckage. Chief 35 arrived on scene confirming two vehicles, both off the roadway with one vehicle on its side. Rescue 35's crew handled fire suppression, patient extrication, and patient packaging. Two individuals from the truck, the vehicle that rolled, were transported to local hospitals for their injuries. Crews freed the one occupant by removing the windshield. Removing the other patient required partial removal of the truck's roof and associated support system.
Company 36 assisted on scene with additional lighting, rescue equipment staging, and assistance with rescue equipment recovery efforts. Unit 15 transported one patient, and Hollidaysburg Ambulance transported the other. Company 35 Fire Police assisted with shutting down SR 26 throughout rescue operations.
Once extrication was complete, and all patients were loaded, extensive debris removal and fluid mitigation was necessary before one lane of SR 26 was reopened. PSP is investigating the cause. Crash investigation and vehicle removal led to the roadway being closed intermittently for two hours.
A special thanks to those members that back filled the station to ensure the fundraising event/dinner continued in a seamless manner. Our members ROCK!!!!
