Two More

February 21, 2019

Company 35 and Unit 15 were out for two more on Wednesday. Crews were called to a chimney fire on Power Plant Road. Crews arrived to find hot embers coming from the chimney. An internal investigation showed normal wall temperatures, letting us know the fire was contained to the chimney. Inside crews extinguished the fire and removed the heat source (wood) from the fireplace. Roof crews dragged the chimney. Due to the fireplace insert, crews were unable to adequately clean the chimney without removing the insert. Once removed, crews effectively finished cleaning the chimney. The heat source was placed out of service until certified repairs were made to the hearth and the chimney was professionally cleaned.

Shortly after, Company 35 was out with Unit 15 for a medical assist in the ridges. Due to road conditions, crews were forced to access the dwelling via Shy Beaver Road. Unit 15 transported one patient ALS, and Company 35 personnel returned to station around 945PM.
