Company 35, 36 & 17 along with EMS units from 15,16 &17 and Saxton/Liberty PD as well as PSP participated in Tussey Mountain SADD's Mock-crash today. Each year the students worked with their local fire and EMS services to add a high level of realism to the scenario. This year continued that tradition of realism; ensuring the students are engaged and clearly understand the consequences of drinking and driving. The event began with the reading of a heart wrenching story to set the mood. Crews then conducted a complete extrication with patient packaging and transport. A body was pronounced dead. The driver was given sobriety testing, handcuffed, and removed from the scene all in an effort to help send the intended message. Chief Mark Taylor and School Resource Officer Randy Zimmerman made closing remarks to reinforce the need for good decision making. Thanks to everyone who participated in the event, including Principal Janell Henderson and Guidance Counselor Kathy Wood for supporting the event. Special thanks to our new Saxton Fire Company Photographer Karen Lankford for telling the story with her pictures!
Tussey Mountain students continue making us and the community proud by making good decisions!
