Too Close to Home

December 31, 2016

Last night Unit 15 was requested to standby in Huntingdon Station 300's hall. We would learn that request was in response to a cowardly crime committed against PSP Trooper Weaver. Trooper Landon Weaver, Pennsylvania State Police 145th Cadet Class enlisted on Dec. 14, 2015. His end of watch unfortunately occurred yesterday.

PSP reported this morning, the thirty-two year-old wanted for the homicide of Trooper Landon Weaver, was located and is deceased. Troopers encountered him at an unoccupied mobile home not far from his residence. He refused commands to surrender, made threats to harm additional law enforcement personnel, and was shot and killed in the ensuing confrontation.

Trooper Weaver was investigating a Protection from Abuse (PFA) violation on Bakers Hollow Road in Juniata Township, Huntingdon County, when he was shot and killed on December 30, 2016 at approximately 6:30 p.m. Trooper Weaver is the 97th member of the Pennsylvania State Police to be killed in the line of duty since the department’s inception in 1905. He was 23 years old.

Saxton Volunteer Fire Company, Station 35, sends our heartfelt condolences to Trooper Weaver's family, and to our brothers in Blue. We support you, are proud of you, and respect your courage and sacrifice. Rest assured Brother Weaver your legacy will live on, and know we are all saddened by your passing. We pray 2017 will be a better year for all those that serve. Thank you everyone for bringing this fateful altercation to a close. And to Trooper Weaver's family, thank you for your ultimate sacrifice. Know the service community is here for you, and we're happy to answer you call for any assistance! Yours in service and commitment--Station 35!
