Company 35 and Unit 15 had a strong presence at this year's St. Scene. From ox roast sandwiches to t-shirts to recruitment, members showed up in force to support this community event.
Unit 15 members spent the day providing free blood pressure screening. Members from Company 35 were a hit with the kids as they helped reinforce lessons learned during school Fire Prevention Week activities. Utilizing Company 32's Emergency Safety Trailer, kids were able to experience smoke-filled conditions, rescue victims, and test doors for heat. Additionally, the youngsters learned about common fire hazards in the home, and how to use 'pull alarms' commonly found in their schools.
An additional hit was the water provided for the dunk tank and the soak zone!
Chief Taylor said, "We're proud of our community, and it is an honor to participate in these events. We have a great group of volunteers that stepped up to help make this year's event special. What better way to use bad hose than to make it into a sprinkler for the kids? Thank you to all those who spent countless hours organizing the event. It is further proof that Saxton is a great place to live!"
Thank you to all our members that gave their time and talents. Thank you Saxton Fire Police for assisting with road closures, parking, and traffic control.
