Purported Structure Fire

July 22, 2016

Tanker 35 and Truck 35 were hit out around 0600 for a purported barn fire in the vicinity of Raystown Road and Woodbury Pike. Southern Cove Chief 41 arrived on scene and reported a controlled burn. Units from Everett, Six Mile Run, Saxton, Southern Cove, and Huntingdon County Station 17 were all placed available.

This is yet another reminder of why residents should report controlled burns.

Public Information Officer Diehl said, "There is a real risk of legal and criminal consequences if a responder is injured going to a non-reported controlled burn. Those consequences are even more severe if that incident results in a catastrophic loss because responders are not able to answer an actual emergency!"

It's simple to report a controlled burn. Use the non-emergency line number to call county dispatch, provide your name and location. When you are done burning, simply call back. Help us keep the community safe by reporting your next controlled burn!
