MVA ON BROAD MOUNTAIN ROAD
Sept 28th - Company 17 &
Rescue 35 were dispatched for a motor
vehicle crash on Broad Top Mountain Road in
Carbon Township on Monday at 18:41 hours.
Deputy Chief 17 arrived on scene to find one
car blocking both lanes and the driver
ejected onto the highway. Medic 17 arrived
on Ambulance 17 and determined victim DOA.
Rescue 35 was assigned to handle scene
safety and lighting operations while 35 Fire
Police assisted with traffic control. 35
units were released at 19:31 hours. Our
thoughts and prayers go out the the victims
family.
SERIOUS ON BROAD MOUNTAIN ROAD
Sept 28th - Company
35,Rescue 36 and EMS 15 & 17 were hit out on
the 35-02 box for their first motor vehicle
accident on Broad Top Mountain Road in
Middletown on Monday. Chief 35 arrived
on scene with a pick up truck broad sided
into a tree with the driver laying outside
the vehicle exhibiting obvious injuries. He
assumed command bringing Rescue 35 into the
scene and diverting Engine/Tanker 35 to the
Tussey Mountain High School to establish a
landing zone. EMS 15 personnel assessed the
patient and was assisted by the rescue staff
with packaging and loading. Due to weather
conditions Aeromedical aborted shortly after
lift off so Ambulance 15 transported the
patient to the Altoona Hospital trauma
center. Chief 35 placed all apparatus
available at 12:25 and transferred command
to Fire Police Captain 35-1 until PSP
arrived and the scene was cleared.

T-BONE CRASH AT ROUTE 26 & 164
Sept 26th - Company 35,
EMS 15 & Rescue 36 were dispatched for a two
vehicle crash at the intersection of Route
26 & 164 in Liberty Township on Saturday
morning. Chief 35 arrived on scene of a T
bone crash involving a pick-up tuck and a
car. Fortunately both drivers were out of
their vehicles exhibiting only minor
injuries. He assumed command holding 35
apparatus to the scene and placed Rescue 36
in service. EMS 15,s crew assessed the
patients with both refusing transport.
Command was later transferred to Assistant
Chief 35-2 who managed the scene safety and
traffic control operations until the
incident terminated at 8:01.
RESCUE 35 CANCELLED ENROUTE TO CRASH WITH
Co.36
Sept 19th - Company 35
and Rescue 35 were called to a motor vehicle
accident on Raystown Road at 20:50. Chief 36
arrived on scene of the crash with no
entrapment, holding his company and placed
Rescue 35 in service shortly after marking
up on the air. Rescue 35 was in quarters and
ready at 20:54.
RESCUE 35 & EMS 15 RUN CRASH WITH CO.17
Sept 16th - Company 17
&EMS 17 along with Rescue 35 were dispatched
for a motor vehicle crash on Broad Top
Mountain Road on Tuesday evening at 21:33.
Chief 17 arrived on scene with multiple
patients and special called additional EMS
units from 15 & 16. Under his command Rescue
35 and crew were assigned to attend to a
patient who had left the scene and
found along Broad Top Mountain Road. They
were placed in service at the end of this
assignment at 21:53.
TRANSFER ASSIGNMENT TO 36's HOUSE
Sept 12th - Engine 35
fullfilled a stand-by assignment for Station
36 while they worked a fire with Company 41
on Saturday evening. Chief 36 placed the
Engine crew ready at 23:39.
RESCUE 35 RUNS ROLLOVER MVA WITH CO.36
Sept 12th - Company 36
and Rescue 35 responded to a motor vehicle
accident on Raystwon Road on Saturday at
03:12. Chief 35 arrived on scene to find a
single vehicle on its roof with the driver
self extricated. EMS 16 personnel attended
to the patient while Rescue 36 with Captain
36-5 handling on scene operations. Rescue 35
was staged near the intersection of Raystown
Road and Six Mile Run Road for traffic
control. The call ended at 04:23.
RESCUE 35 & FIRE POLICE DUE FOR TREE
DOWN
Sept 9th - Company 35 &
their Fire Police Unit were dispatched for a
tree down on Route 164 on Tuesday evening.
The tree blocking one lane of traffic was
cut and removed in short order. All units
were back in quarters at 20:36.
STATION 35 CALLED TO VEHICLE FIRE ON ROUTE
164
Sept 7th - Company 35 was
dispatched for a tractor & trailer fire on
Route 164. Chief 35 arrived to find an SUV
towing a travel trailer with the fire
already extinguished and placed all
apparatus back into service at 17:34.
RESCUE 35 RUNS MVA WITH CO.3
Sept 7th - Company 3,
Rescue 35 & Squad 6 were dispatched on Labor
Day for an MVA on Route 994. Chief 3 arrived
on the scene to find one vehicle over an
embankment and off the highway with no
entrapment. He brought his apparatus into
the scene and placed Rescue 35 at the
intersection of Route 994 & Little Valley
Road for Traffic control. Squad 6 was placed
available. Fire Police units form 3 & 35
assumed traffic control responsibilities and
Rescue 35 was placed in service at 10:17.
MOTOR
VEHICLE CRASH ON SAXTON ROAD
Sept 6th - Company 35 was
dispatched for a motor vehicle crash on
Sunday at 08:27. Lieutenant 35 -2 arrived on
the scene to find two vehicles involved with
all the patients still in the vehicles but
with no confinement. He assumed command and
assigned Rescue 36 & 35 Fire Police units to
traffic control on this very foggy morning.
Rescue 35's staff assisted EMS 15 with
patient packaging and removal. All three
victims of the accident were transported to
area hospitals by Saxton's two ambulances.
The call ended at 09:16.
SUV
ROLLOVER ON LITTLE VALLEY ROAD
Aug 29th - Rescue 35,
Rescue 3 and EMS 15 were dispatched for an
MVA on Little Valley Road in Todd Township
on Saturday morning at 08:18. Lieutenant
35-3 arrived on the scene to find an SUV
rollover blocking the east bound lane. The
two occupants of the vehicle had self
extricated with one exhibiting moderate
injuries. Rescue 3 was placed available. EMS
15 with Medic 15-4 transported both patients
to JC Blair Hospital in Huntingdon. The crew
from Rescue 35 assisted with fluid control
and debris cleanup and provided scene safety
until PSP arrived. The incident was
terminated at 09:40.
RESCUE 35 RUNS CRASH WITH COMPANY 17
Aug 28th - Company 17,
EMS 17 along with Rescue 35 responded to a
motor vehicle crash on Route 994 Friday at
17:15. Deputy Chief 17 arrived on scene to
find an SUV into a tree with one patient
still in the vehicle. 17's crew was able to
free the victim with minor extrication for
transport to JC Blair Hospital. Rescue 35
was placed back into service after the
patient was loaded. 35 Fire Police remained
on scene to assist with traffic control. The
call ended at 18:02.
TANKER RUNS DWELLING FIRE WITH CO.21
Aug 22nd - Tanker 35 was
dispatched to assist Huntingdon County
Company 21 with a working fire on Beavertown
Road on Sunday at 08:13 hours. Upon arrival
Tanker 35's staff under the direction of
Captain 35-3 was ordered to the interior for
overhaul operations. Tanker 35 was released
from the scene at 10:16 hours. A family of
seven was made homeless from the fire. A Pa
State Fire Marshall was called to
investigate.
RESCUE 35 HANDLES LANDING ZONE ASSIGNMENT
FOR
DOUBLE FLY-OUT FOR CO.3
Aug 22nd - Rescue 35 was
dispatched with Company 3 for a Motor
Vehicle Crash on Shy Beaver Road at 21:50
hours on Friday evening. Chief 3 diverted
Rescue 35 from the scene to establish a
Landing Zone for two Aeromedical units at
Hill Top Supply. Assistant Chief 35- 3
directed the LZ operations for Stat Medivac
11 & 12. Both Choppers lifted off for the
Trauma Center by 23:00 hours and Rescue 35
was back in quarters and ready at 23:20
hours.

DUE FOR THE MVA ON SAXTON ROAD
Aug 21st - Rescue 35 &
Ambulance 15 were dispatched for a motor
vehicle accident on Saxton Road on Friday at
10:15 hours. Captain 35-2 riding in on
Rescue 35 arrived to find a single vehicle
in a ditch in front of Saxton Auto Parts
with the dirver self extricated. EMS 15
evaluated the patient with no apparent
injuries. Captain 35- 2 secured the scene
and turned the incident over to 35 Fire
Police unit until the arrival of PSP and
placed the Rescue Company ready. The called
ended at 10:33 hours.
MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT WITH CO.36
Aug 20th - Company 36,
Rescue 35 and EMS 15 were dispatched for a
motorcycle accident on Six Mile Run Road at
13:06 hours on Friday. Captain 35-4
commanded the incident. EMS 16 & 15 under
the direction of Medic 15 -2 assisted with
patient packaging for transport to the
Altoona Regional Trauma Center. Rescue 35
was placed available at 13:18 hours.

WITH CO.36 on ROUTE 26
Aug 18th - Company 36 and
Rescue 35 were dispatched for a motor
vehicle crash on Tuesday at 20:21 hours. The
911 Center cancelled all responding
apparatus, reporting the vehcile had left
the scene. Chief 36 had his untis continue
in to investigate. Rescue 35 remained in
quarters.
ANIMAL RESCUE IN NEW ENTERPRISE
Aug 16th - Company 35's
Technical Rescue Unit was dispatched to
assist Company 41 and Bedford Conuty Animal
Rescue Team with an animal rescue at the
Replogle Farm on Sunday at 20:17 hours. A
cow fell 10 foot down into a manure vault.
Rescue Team members removed the animal using
harnesses and heavy equipment from a
neighboring contractor. The operations
entailed ventilating the vault, lowering two
team members down to the animal to place the
extrication harness on the cow and
installing a rigging device on the 1000
pound animal so it cold be lifted from the
vault. The call ended at 23:20 hours.
CLOSE
CALL AT JED'S RESTAURANT IN SAXTON BOROUGH
Aug 6th - Company 35 was
dispatched for a fire Investigation at Jed's
Restaurant on Thursday at 16:47 hours. Chief
35 arrived on scene with normal conditions
outside the structure. The staff reported a
power outage and smell of something burning
when meeting Chief at the door. Upon further
investigation it was discovered that the
main breaker had faulted and burned in the
main panel box. There was no visible
fire but there were obvious electrical
problems within the structure. The owner was
instructed to contact their electrician
immediately and notified that power could
not be restored to the building until the
problems were corrected. 35 staff worked to
run temporary power to the coolers and
freezers. Chief placed the box back in
service at 17:30 hours.
RESCUE 35 RUNS PHYSICAL RESCUE ON BIKE
ACCIDENT
Aug 5th - EMS 15 & Rescue
35 were called to a bicycle accident on
Wednesday at 18:20 hours where a young boy
had his foot entangled in the wheel. Rescue
crew used hand tools for disassembly ops to
free his foot. He was then transported to JC
Blair Hospital for treatment and the call
ended at 18:39 hours.

TREES DOWN AT SAME LOCATION
Aug 2nd - Rescue 35 and
Fire Police were hit out again on Sunday
morning at 08:42 hours for more trees down
at Wildcat Rocks. This time three large
tress were blocking both lanes of Route 913.
Chief 35 had the 911 Center call Penn
Dot for assistance while 35's Rescue staff
went to work on the fallen trees. Eventually
Brode's log truck was brought in to help
remove the trees. The highway was finally
cleared and units placed in service at 10:47
hours.
TREE
DOWN IN CARBON TWP
Aug 2nd - Rescue 35 and
Fire Police were called for a large tree
down at Wildcat Rocks on Sunday at 03:32
hours. Chief 35 arrived to find a large tree
blocking the west bound lane of route 913.
Rescue crew members used chain saws to
cut the tree into manageable sections for
removal from the highway. Chief placed the
box back in service at 04:01.
ROLLOVER WITH 36

Aug 1st - Company 36 &
Rescue 35 were dispatched for an
MVA roll over above Hopewell on
Saturday at 03:20 hours. Captain
36-5 riding in on Rescue 36
arrived on scene to find a
pickup truck severely damaged
with no patient on scene. Due to
the severity of the crash and
the possibility for an ejection
he had crews from both rescue
companies perform a search of
the immediate area. No victim
was found and it was later
discovered the driver had fled
the scene and then returned. The
call ended at 04:22 hours.

DWELLING FIRE ON HORTON ROAD
July 27th - The 36 -04
Box was dispatched for a working house fire
on Horton Road near Langdondale on Monday at
18:59 hours. Chief 36 assumed command of the
two dwelling fire assigning Wagon 36 and
crew to fire attack from the A side and
Truck 35 to side C for roof ventilation.
Engine 35 pumped the 5 inch layed out from
Wagon 36 and Tankers 36, 35 and 32 moved
water from the fill site. 36 had a good hit
on the second floor fire that followed by an
extensive ovehaul with staff from 35 and
32. Crews worked the fire for about two
hours. All 35 Apparatus was back in quarters
and ready at 21:16 hours. Huntingdon
County Engine 3 manned Station 35 during the
incident.

FIRE POLICE DISPATCHED FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL

SCENE SECURITY IN LIBERTY TWP
July 25th - 35 Fire
Police responsed to assist EMS 15 with
traffic control for a man down along the
highway at the corner of 16th Street and
Route 913. The were on scene for nearly two
hours and back in service at 08:09 hours.

SETON AUTOMATIC ALARM FOR JULY
July 21st -
The 35 -01 Box was once
again dispatched for an automatic alarm at
the Seton Company in Saxton Borough. Chief
35 arrived on scene to find the alarm system
had malfunctioned and placed the box in
service at 05:23 hours.

TRAUMA MVA IN TODD TWP
WITH
THREE FLY-OUTS
July 18th - Company 35,
Company 3 and Rescue 21 worked a serious two
vehicle accident at the intersection of
Little Valley Road and Route 994 on Saturday
at 16:36 hours. Chief 35 arrived on scene to
find a T-Bone crash with 8 injured victims.
Deputy Chief 3 riding in on Engine 3 assumed
command while Chief 35 handled operations.
EMS from 3, 15, 5 and 21 treated the
patients with three being flown from a
landing zone in Hopewell Township and the
others transported to Altoona and Huntingdon
Hospitals. Rescue 35's staff assisted with
patient removal and packaging. Engine 35 was
assigned to landing zone responsibilities.
The call ended at 18:02 hours.
WORKING VEHICLE FIRE WITH 36
July 14th - Company 36
along with Engine and Tanker 35 were
dispatched for a vehicle fire on Front
Street in Hopewell on Tuesday at 05:01
hours. Deputy Chief 36 arrived on scene and
reported a pickup truck fire well off. Wagon
36 made quick work of the fire and 35
apparatus was placed back into service at
5:36 hours.

ANOTHER AUTOMATIC ALARM AT SETON
July 9th - The 35-01 Box
was once again struck for an automatic alarm
at the Seton Company. Chief 35 arrived with
nothing showing and similar alarm conditions
as on the previous call. He held 35 units
for investigation and placed the remainder
of the box in service. Plant management
arrived on scene to address the alarm
system problems and 35 apparatus returned
to quarters at 08:50 hours.

AUTOMATIC ALARM AT SETON
July 9th - The 35-01 box
was dispatched for an automatic alarm at the
Seton Company on Thursday at 03:59 hours.
Chief 35 arrived on scene to find the alarm
panel showing multiple fire points activated
but nothing showing. He assumed command and
ordered 35 crews to the interior for
investigation. Nothing was found and it was
later determined the system malfunctioned.
The box was placed available at 04:52 hours.

Ploice were called out on Sunday to handle
traffic control while the Vietnam Vets
Motorcycle Benefit Ride went through the

OFF HUNTINGDON COUNTY FIREMAN'S CONVENTION
July 5th - Almost 500
Fire and EMS personnel from all across
Huntingdon County attended the memorial
service at the Trinity United Church of
Christ in Saxton on Sunday evening. A very
deserving service was held to honor all
fallen comarades with Pastor Alan Brumbaugh
delivering the message along with special
music provided by the Sothern Cove Fire
Company Choir. A walking processional from
the church to Station 35 followed the
service where a last call and sounding of
the final bells was conducted. An Open house
of the new Station 35 expansion
project followed the memorial service.
ROUTE
913 MVA
July 3rd - Company 35 and
EMS 15 were called for an MVA on Route 913
in Liberty Township on Wednesday at 14:29
hours. Upon arrival Captain 35-2 riding in
on Rescue 35 found a vehicle over the
embankment with no entrapment. He determined
the scene safe after EMS 15's assement and
with PSP handling the traffic control,
placed the box back into service.
ROLLOVER ON PINCHOT ROAD
June 30th - Rescue 35,
EMS 15 and Rescue 36 were disptached for a
motor vehcile accident on the Pinchot Road
Tuesday at 11:38 hours. Chief 35 arrived on
scene to find a compact car on its roof with
the driver self extricated. Rescue 35 was
assigned to vehicle stabilization and fluid
control. EMS 15 assessed the single occupant
that resulted in a patient refusal. Chief 35
placed the box back in service at 12:37
hours after the scene was cleared by PSP.

June 22nd - Company 35
Fire Police were dispatched for a no injury,
non reportable motor vehicle accident on
Monday at 19:31 hours. They performed
traffic control until the vehicle was
cleared at 21:00 hours.

ON ROUTE 26
June 19th - No sooner
then reporting back into station from the
crash in Hopewell on Friday, Company 35 and
EMS 15 were dispatched for a motor vehicle
accident in front of Weavers Garage in
Liberty Township on Route 26. Chief 35
arrived on scene to find one SUV off the
highway after striking multiple used cars in
Weaver's lot. The patient was not
injured. Chief 35 placed the box back in
service at 02:36 hours.
RESCUE 35 RUNS SERIOUS CRASH WITH STATION 36
June 19th - Company 36
along with Rescue 35 were dispatched for a
serious car versus motorcycle accident on
Friday on Route 26 near Hopewell. Deputy
Chief 36 arrived on scene to find two
patients with one of them being ejected. He
quickly assigned Rescue 35 landing zone
responsibilities at Station 36. Rescue 35
was released following the Fly Out at 01:53
hours.
REPORTED HOUSE FIR AT 603 CHURCH STREET
June 18th - The Full
First Alarm 35-01 Box was struck on Thursday
evening at 17:26 hours for a reported house
fire. Rescue Captain 35-3 arrived on scene
to find an oven fire resulting from a Pizza
box. He removed the box and extinguished the
fire as 35 apparatus was arriving on scene.
Engine 35 was assigned to ventilation duties
and the remainder of the box was placed in
service. The call ended at 18:04 hours.
HORSES DOWN IN MCCONNELLSTOWN
June 18th - Company 35's
Technical Rescue Team was called to assist
in McConnellstown with a Horse Down. The
Crew worked to raise the horse so it could
be evaluated by the vet. The call ended at
12:15 hours.

WITH STATION 36
June 18th - Company
35 was called with Station 36 apparatus on
an automatic alarm at the Hopewell Village
Apartments on Tuesday morning at 09:23 but
were cancelled by Deputy Chief 36 before
leaving the station.

IN COALMONT BOROUGH AT THE BRIDGE

June 17th - Company 35
along with Rescue 17 were
dispatched to a motor vehicle
accident on Wednesday at 02:12
hours. Chief 35 arrived on scene
to find a truck severely damaged
with no entrapment. Rescue 17
was placed back into service and
35 apparatus were held
for traffic control and scene
security while EMS 15 assessed
the patient. The patient refused
treatment and was eventually
transported by PSP. Chief 35
terminated the incident at 03:36
hours.

MVA
IN SAXTON BOROUGH
June 16th - Company 35
responded to a motor vehicle crash at the
intersection of Front Street and Route 913
on Tuesday. Assistant Chief 35-3 arrived on
scene of the minor, no injury accident and
assigned Rescue 35 to traffic control
duties. The call was terminated 10 minutes
later.

ON ROUTE 164
June 11th - Company 35
was dispatched for a motor vehicle crash on
top of the mountain on route 164. The
accident occurred in Blair County so it was
handled by Station 80 and Company 35
apparatus were placed available. 35 Fire
Police assisted with traffic control.
ROLLOVER ON LITTLE VALLEY ROAD
June 6th - Company 35 was
dispatched for an MVA on the Little Valley
Road on Saturday at 23:22 hours. Chief 35
arrived on scene to find a compact car
rolled over on its side with the patient
self extricated. Rescue 35 maintained scene
control while EMS 15 evaluated the accident
victim which ended up as a patient refusal.
The call ended at 12:45 hours.
TRUCK
35 RESPONDS ON THE 17 BOX
ON
WELLS VALLEY ROAD
May 28th -
Truck 35 was dispatched for a working house
fire on the Wells Valley Road on Thursday at
22:15. Command 17 ordered the Truck crew
under the direction of Captain 35-3 to
handle overhaul operations on the structure.
They worked the job for about two hours and
were back in quarters and ready at 01:01 on
Friday. Our thoughts and prayers go out to
the officers and members of Station 57 who
experienced an apparatus accident on the way
to the call. They rolled their tanker off
the highway and down over an embankment.
While the rig suffered major damage we are
glad to hear the injuries to their operator
and crew member seemed to be minor.
HIGHWAY FLOODING ON RAYSTOWN ROAD
May 23rd -
35 Fire Police were called out for traffic
control near the intersection of Raven Run
Road & Raystown Road for water on the
highway following the major thunderstorms
that hit the area on Saturday afternoon.
Their assignment lasted for about 25 minutes
with them reporting back in service at
17:25.
MOTORCYCLE VS BOAT & TRAILER

May 23rd -
Company 35 & Ambulance 15 were
dispatched for and MVA involving
a motor cycle that collided with
a boat & trailer on Weavers
Falls Road on Saturday around
13:00. Chief 35 arrived on
scene to find the cycle driver
up walking around but had
obviously sustained injuries
from the crash. EMS 15 with
Medic 15-2 packaged the patient
and transported to the Altoona
Regional Trauma Center. Engine
35’s crews assisted with hazard
control and safety. Chief 35
held the 35 Fire Police unit on
scene until the arrival of PSP
and the towing company and
placed all other apparatus back
in service at 13:54.

BRUSH
FIRE ON LITTLE VALLEY ROAD
May 21st -
Company 35 along with Tankers 36 & 3 and
Brush units from 36, 3, 17 & 21 were
dispatched for a brush fire in Todd
Township, 18588 Little Valley Road at 21:15
on Thursday. Chief 35 arrived on scene to
find a ¼ acre fire just off the highway near
a mobile home. He assumed command and placed
all the brush units available. Engine &
Tanker 35 crew’s made quick work of the
extinguishment and the fire was reported out
within minutes. Chief placed the box
available at 22:16.

ON 36-04 BOX
May 13th -
Company 36 & Rescue 35 were dispatched for a
motor vehicle accident at 14:36 on
Wednesday. The incident was reported to be
in the area of Eichelberger Town but
responding units were unable to locate the
accident. The 911 Center then found the
wrong address was given by the caller and it
was actually well into Company 32’s area. 36
& 35 apparatus were placed available at
15:06.
RESIDENTIAL FIRE ALARM ON OAK STREET
IN
BROAD TOP
Apr 30th -
At 12:38 on Thursday, the 17-01 Box was
struck for an automatic fire alarm with a
second floor some detector activation at a
residence on Oak Street in Broad Top on
Thursday Afternoon. Assistant Chief 17
arrived on the scene with nothing showing.
His investigation found it to be a ‘food on
the stove top fire’ with no extension. He
held Engine 17 and placed the remainder of
the box back in service. All responding
Company 35 apparatus were back in quarters
and ready at 13:00 hours.
AUTOMATIC ALARM AT SAXTON MARKET
Apr 28th -
Company 35 was dispatched for an automatic
fire alarm at Saxton Market on Tuesday at
12:58. The Bedford County 911 Center
cancelled all units before they marked up on
the air. It was reported the alarm company
was on premise performing maintenance and
accidentally triggered the alarm.
ANOTHER CALL TO OLD BEDFORD VILLAGE FOR
PRINCE
Apr 25th -
Rescue 35 was once again dispatched to Old
Bedford Village for a horse down on Saturday
at 13:29. Rescue Captain 35 arrived on scene
to find Prince, the huge draft horse down.
He directed his crew and members of Bedford
Fire Department and Bedford Animal Rescue
Team to sling and harness the horse so it
could be lifted. The operation was completed
in about 15 minutes.

TWO
VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN LIBERTY TWP.
Apr 20th -
At 13:15 on Monday Company 35, Ambulance 15
& Rescue 36 were dispatched for a two car
accident that occurred at the intersection
of Norris Street & Saxton Road. Chief 35
arrived on scene to find both vehicles off
the highway in the NAPA parking lot with no
entrapment and injuries to one of the
accident victims. He assumed command and
placed Rescue 36 available. Rescue 35’s crew
under the direction of Rescue Captain 35
assisted EMS with patient packaging and
scene safety. Ambulance 15’s people treated
the patient and then transported to Bedford
Memorial Hospital. The incident was
terminated at 13:57 after arrival of PSP.
The 35 Fire Police unit assisted with
traffic control.

FIRE POLICE RUN TWO ON ROUTE 164 SUNDAY
Apr 19th -
A rock slide at the top of the mountain on
Route 164 closed the East bound lane
requiring 35 Fire Police to assume traffic
control until Penn Dot could clear the
highway. The fire police unit under the
direction of 35 LT FP- 3 responded to the
call at 11:20 hours and were on scene until
12:37.
The 35 Fire Police unit was summoned to
Route 164 again at 17:07 hours for a
disabled vehicle in the West bound lane.
The short assignment ended at 17:57
hours after the vehicle was refueled.
MOTOR
VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON LITTLE VALLEY ROAD
Apr 18th -
Company 35 and Rescue 3 were dispatched for
a motor vehicle crash on Little Valley Road
on Saturday at 03:28. Initial calls from the
911 center were reporting possible
confinement but Chief 35 arrived to find the
patient out of the vehicle. The SUV was off
the highway after striking an embankment and
several trees and landing in a small ravine.
Chief 35 assumed command and placed Rescue 3
available. Rescue 35’s crew handled scene
safety and debris removal. 15’s EMS crew
assessed the single patient involved and
transported to JC Blair Hospital in
Huntingdon. Chief 35 held 35 fire police on
scene for traffic control until the towing
company removed the vehicle and placed the
remainder of the box back into service at
04:35.

REPORTED STRUCTURE FIRE AT JC's GYM
IN
SAXTON BOROUGH
Apr 9th -
Fire Police LT. 35-2 radioed in a possible
structure fire at JC’s Gym on Lower Main
Street on Wednesday at 16:59. Patrons using
the gym reported smoke and a strong
electrical odor in the first floor fitness
area. Chief 35 arrived on scene to find
conditions as reported and suspected a
ballast fire in one of the fluorescent
ceiling lights. He assumed command and
instructed Engine 35’s crew under the
direction of Captain 35-1 to put their
thermal imaging camera to work in locating
the origin of the fire. The camera located
the hot ballast and it was removed from the
light fixture. The building owner’s
electrician isolated the bad fixture from
the rest of the lighting system. Truck 35
with Captain 35-3 set a PPV fan at the
entrance to the gym to clear the smoke and
odor. The call was held to a local alarm and
ended at 17:25.
TRUCK
35 RUNS CHIMNEY FIRE IN LINCOLN TWP
Apr 8th -
Truck 35 under the direction of Captain 35-3
and a full crew responded on the 3-6 Box for
a Chimney fire on Hammer Road in Lincoln
Township at 21:40 on Wednesday. Chief 3
riding in on Engine 3 arrived on scene with
a chimney fire and no extension. Due to the
remote location of the residence, he ordered
Truck 35 to stage at Raystown Road & Fouse’s
Crossing through the initial operations.
Company 3 handled the extinguishment and
cleaning of the chimney and Truck 35 was
placed back into service at 22:29.
BARN
FIRE ON RAYSTOWN ROAD WITH CO.32
Apr 5th -
Tanker 35 with a staffing of five responded
to multiple alarm Barn Fire with Company 32
on Raystown Road just above the Route 26 &
36 intersection on Sunday at 17:35. Tanker
35 joined in the tanker shuttle supplying
water to the fire scene. 35s crew under the
direction of Captain 35-3 was assigned to
work the interior in a successful effort to
save the milking parlor. Tanker 35 was
released after four hours into the call at
21:40 hours.
CANCELLED ON MVA WITH CO.36
Apr 5th -
Rescue 35 was dispatched to assist Company
36 with an MVA on Raystown Road near the
Hopewell VFW at 02:45 on Sunday. Deputy
Chief 36 arrived on scene and cancelled 35
before the leaving the station at 02:46.
BUSY
WEEKEND ON RAYSTOWN ROAD SOUTH
Apr 4th -
A 17:10 on Saturday, Company 35, Ambulance
15 & Rescue 36 were dispatched for an MVA on
Raystown Road about 1/2 mile south of the
Route 913 Route 26 intersection. Chief 35
arrived on scene to find an extended cab
pickup on it roof blocking both lanes. His
on scene investigation found all three
occupants out of the vehicle being attended
to by first arriving EMTs, all very
fortunately exhibiting only minor injuries.
He assumed command bringing Rescue 35 in for
scene security while 15s crew assessed the
patients. All three ended up being patient
refusals. Command 35 closed Route 26 from
the intersection to Raven Run Road utilizing
Rescue 36 and 35 Fire Police for this
operation. All units were released from the
scene at 18:19 hours following PSP
investigation and the removal of the vehicle
by the towing service.
SUV
ROLLOVER AT 2135 BROAD TOP MOUNTAIN ROAD
Mar 31st -
Company 35 & Ambulance 15 along with Rescue
17 were dispatched for a motor vehicle
accident on Broad Top Mountain Road in
Middletown on Tuesday at 08:36. Chief 35
arrived on scene to find an SUV off the
highway on its side. The driver and only
occupant self extricated exhibiting no
injuries. Chief assumed command and placed
Rescue 17 and Tanker 35 available. Rescue
35’s crew provided scene safety. EMS 15
assessed the patient that resulted in no
transport. The 35 Fire Police unit handled
traffic control until PSP arrived. The box
was placed back in service at 09:18.
SAXTON FIRE CO. EMS TEAM COVERAGE AT
PENN
STATE ALTOONA
Over 40 members of the Saxton Fire Company
EMS team spent two days at the Penn State
Altoona campus sharpening their emergency
medical skills during their annual
Continuing Education Weekend. The training
weekend was coordinated by Paramedics Mike
Smith and Tom Stoudnour. Expert instruction
was provided By Physicians and Trauma Nurses
from the Altoona Hospital Regional Trauma
Center. Our thanks to everyone involved with
this great achievement! We would also like
to personally thank Dr Stern for all his
support and cooperation of our EMS
operations.

BUILDING FIRE OFF JACKS CORNER RD WITH CO.41
Mar 26th -
Rescue 35 was dispatched for RIT and Truck 35 and Tanker
35 were called for work on a Building fire with Company
41 at 04:25 on Thursday. Assistant Chief 41-2 arrived on
scene and found the building burned to the ground. He
brought Tanker 35 into the scene with Wagon 36 along
with the responding 41 apparatus. He placed Rescue 35 &
Truck 35 available while still in route and they marked
back in quarters at 04:55. Tanker 35 was in quarters and
ready at 05:34.
COMPANY 35 DUE 0N HUNTINGDON 5-5 BOX
Mar 22nd -
Rescue 35 and Engine 35 were part of the
apparatus due on the 5-5 Box alarm
assignment struck for a possible 5th
floor apartment fire in Huntingdon on Sunday
at 18:06. Shortly after arriving on scene at
the Deforest apartments, Chief 5 requested
all incoming apparatus to come in under
caution. After his investigation he held
Company 5 apparatus and placed the remainder
of the Box back in service at 18:14.
WORKING BASEMENT FIRE IN COALDALE BOROUGH
Mar 21st -
The 36-01 Box was dispatched for a working
fire in downtown Six Mile at 00:23 on
Saturday. Deputy Chief 36 arrived on scene
reporting heavy smoke coming from the two
story dwelling. Chief 36 arriving at the
same time assumed command and directed the
operations. Company 36 & 35 units worked the
interior holding the fire to the basement
area with 1&3/4 attack lines from Wagon 36.
The attack was followed up with positive
pressure ventilation to clear smoke from the
structure.
Tankers from 36, 35 & 17 supplied water
for the attack. Truck 35 was assigned to
the D side for vertical ventilation but
those ops were cancelled when the fire
was held to the basement. Mechanical
failure to Wagon 36 well into the
operation moved Engine/Tanker 32 to the
scene as the attack engine. 41 stood by
in 36’s station. Engine 17 was at draft
for water supply. Station 60 supplied
RIT services. Company 3 manned 35’s
house during the call. All 35 apparatus
were back in quarters at 02:20.

CONTROLLED BRUSH FIRE GOES OUT FO CONTROL
Mar 14th -
Company 35 was dispatched for a controlled brush fire
that started to go out of control on Raystown Road at
11:01. Deputy Chief 35 riding in on Engine/Tanker 35
ordered his crew to extinguish the fire that spread to
some nearby trees and brush. The call ended at 11:33.
WORKING SHED FIRE
ON SAXTON ROAD
Mar 12th -
The
35-01 Box alarm assignment was dispatched for a shed
fire endangering a mobile home on Thursday at 10:56.
Chief 35 arrived on scene to find the conditions as
reported with a wood utility shed well off and
threatening a D side mobile home. Engine/Tanker 35 was
the first to arrive and its crew was ordered to fire
attack on the shed from Saxton Road while Engine 35 was
staged on Wall Street and directed to protect the
exposure. The fire was extinguished within in minutes
with no fire extension to the mobile home. Chief 35 held
35 apparatus and placed the remainder of the apparatus
due on the Box back into service. While overhaul the
shed fire a small fire occurred in a garage under
demolition from flying embers on the B side of the shed
and was quickly extinguished. All 35 apparatus was
returned to quarters at 11:46.
FURNACE
MALFUNCTION AT PA STATE LIQUOR STORE
Mar 10th -
The
35-01 Box was dispatched at 9:14 on Tuesday for a
reported chimney fire at the Liquor store on Main Street
in Saxton Borough. Chief 35 arrived on scene to find
smoke coming from the chimney off an oil furnace. He
held Company 35 apparatus and placed the remainder of
the box back in service. No key holders were available
so forcible entry into the furnace room was required.
After entry was gained it was determined that the oil
furnace had malfunctioned and the property owner was
advised to contact their heating service representative.
The call ended at 10:04.
SINGLE MOTOR
VEHICLE ACCIDENT BECOMES TWO
Mar 8th -
Company 35 and EMS 15 were dispatched for a motor
vehicle accident on Raystown Road near Marysville on
Sunday morning at 04:45. The Bedford 911 Center alerted
responding units of a single vehicle roll over. Upon the
arrival of Chief 35 he found that a secondary crash had
occurred where a car failed to get stopped and T boned
the first vehicle involved. Chief 35 notified dispatch
of the second accident now blocking both lanes and had
Company 36 fire police dispatched to close Raystown Road
at the Riddlesburg Bridge and ordered 35 Fire Police to
close the highway at Raven Run Road. Both drivers were
out of their vehicles and were released by EMS 15
personnel after assessment and PSP who took both parties
into custody. Rescue 35s crew handled scene safety and
debris clean up and were placed back into service at
06:25.
BRUSH FIRE IN
LITTLE VALLEY

Mar 4th -
Company 35 along with Brush 17 & 3 and Tanker 36 were
hit out for a brush fire in Carbon Township off the
Little Valley Road on Wednesday at 11:22. Chief 35
arrived to find a couple acres of wooded area on fire
and assumed command. An access road allowed Engine 35
and Tanker 35 to get above the fire where their crews
worked the rapidly moving fire with an 1&3/4 hand line
to keep it from spreading into the next section of
woods. A brush fire line was also used off Engine 35 to
hit existing hot spots. Tanker 36 worked the east side
of the fire and Brush 3 and 17 worked the center. The
fire was extinguished with all companies returning at
12:19.

AUTOMATIC ALARM
AT TUSSEY MOUNTAIN HIGH SCHOOL
Mar 4th -
The
35-01 box was dispatched for an automatic fire alarm at
the high school this morning at 07:51.The dispatch
center was notified of a false activation by school
officials. Chief 35 placed the box in service prior to
any apparatus response at 07:55 hours.
WILDLAND FIRE IN
CARBON TOWNSHIP
Mar 3rd -
Company 35 along with Brush 17 & 3 and Tankers 17 & 36
were dispatched for a forest fire in Carbon Township in
the Kenrock area on Tuesday at 13:33. The fire was
located almost five miles off the Broad Top Mountain
Road. The fire had spread across several acres in the
very remote area and access to the fire was limited to
only brush units. Chief 35 assumed command above the
fire while Marshal 35 directed the operations. Chief 35
had the 911 Center re-alert for additional manpower and
ATVs and special called Brush 21 to the scene. Brush 17,
Brush 3, Brush 3-1 & Brush 21 along and their crews
worked the fire with 35. Engine 35 was staged above the
fire with Tankers 36 and 17 to fill the brush trucks as
they emptied and then returned to the fire area. Tanker
3 was staged and Engine 41 was on standby in 35’s
station. The fire was brought under control in about one
hour and the overhaul work continued until 16:13 when
the scene was turned over to DCNR. All apparatus was
back in quarters and ready at 17:12.
WORKING DUPLEX
FIRE IN ROBERTSDALE
Mar 2nd -
The
17-01 box was struck for a working fire on Water Street
in Robertsdale on Monday at 09:28. Lieutenant 17 arrived
on scene with heavy fire in one of residences of the two
story duplex building. He assumed command and directed
an interior attack with first arriving 17 units. Truck
35 was ordered to the roof for ventilation ops upon
arrival and Engine 35 was instructed to tag the hydrant
on the way in and position on the A side. Upon arrival
Engine 35’s staff advanced two 1&3/4 lines into the B
side and went to work on the interior attack. The
initial attack was successful in holding the fire to the
first residence but the wind swept fire got into the
roof of both buildings before the fire could be brought
totally under control. A brief mayday was called as one
of Engine 35s interior crew members fell through the
first floor. He was quickly pulled to safety by his
partner without injury and the operations continued.
High winds and near zero wind chills made this a tough
job. The extensive overhaul work that eventually ended
with a Class A foam application kept crews from 17, 35,
36, 21, 12, 14 & 56 working for over three hours.
Lieutenant 17 returned all 35 apparatus at 12:58 hours.
A PA State Fire Marshall was on scene as crews were
released to determine the cause of the fire. The Red
Cross was called to assist the families made homeless.
Company 6 provided RIT and Company 3 stood by in
Saxton’s house.

HORSE DOWN AT OLD
BEDFORD VILLAGE
Mar 1st -
Company 31 and Saxton’s Technical Rescue team were once
again called to Old Bedford Village for a horse down at
16:23 on Sunday. Prince, the large percheron draft
horse, suffering from a muscle disease was brought back
to its feet using a sling and backhoe. Deputy Chief 31
placed all units back in service at 18:53.
TWO FoR TUESDAY
Feb 24th -
A
first alarm assignment for a dwelling fire on the 17-02
Box was dispatched on Tuesday at 13:28 Hours. Chief 17
arrived on the scene of the Broad Top incident and
assumed command of a working fire in a modular home. 17s
engine crew got a quick hit on the interior but the fire
was spreading rapidly above the ceilings and running
through a large part of the structure. 35s truck crew
was assigned to vertical roof ventilation while 35s
engine staff worked with 17 and 36 to pull ceilings and
extinguish the void space fire and then assisted with
the extensive salvage and overhaul duties. All 35
apparatus was back in quarters and ready at 16:27 hours.
Company 35 and apparatus from 36 & 17
due on the 35-03 box were hit out for a
chimney fire on Little Valley road at
18:21 hours on Tuesday. Marshal 35
arrived on scene and ordered Truck 35s
staff to the roof for chimney cleaning
while the engine company went to the
fire box on the interior to check for
extension. All other apparatus was
placed in service. The fire was ruled
out and the chimney Ok at 18:56 hours
when all 35 units were released from the
scene.

AUTOMATIC ALARM
AT SETON COMPANY
Feb 17th -
The
35 -01 Box was dispatched for an automatic alarm at
Seton Company at 07:49 on Tuesday. Chief 35 had nothing
visible and the alarm panel showing a smoke detector
activation in one of the air handling units. Engine 35 &
Truck 35 assisted with the investigation with nothing
found. Chief 35 placed the box back in service at 08:01.
MVA ON BROAD TOP
MOUNTAIN ROAD
Feb 12th -
Company 35 and Rescue 17 were dispatched for a two
vehicle crash at Wildcat Rocks on Thursday at 21:39.
Chief 35 arrived on the scene to find one vehicle pulled
off the side of the highway and the other on the guard
rails. The driver of vehicle one left the scene and the
other driver was out of the vehicle walking around
exhibiting no injuries. Chief 35 placed Rescue 17
available and held 35 apparatus for scene safety and
debris removal. Upon arrival of PSP, 35 Fire Police
units were held for traffic control and the rest of the
35-01 Box was placed back into service at 22:32.

DISPATCHED FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL
IN BROAD TOP
Feb 12th -
Chief 17 requested Company 35 Fire Police to assist with
traffic control in Broad Top for downed power lines
following the high winds on Wednesday at 15:23 hours.
They remained on scene for nearly three hours.
POWER OUTAGE
TRIGGERS SETON ALARM
Feb 11th -
A
power outage triggered the alarm panel at the station
for an automatic alarm at Seton. The box was placed
available before any apparatus responded at 15:50.
FIRE POLICE
CALLED TO ASSIST AT MVA with 36
Feb 11th -
Company 35 Fire Police were called to the scene of a
motor vehicle accident near Hopewell to assist with
traffic control on Wednesday. They were released at
14:10.
TREE DOWN ON
BROAD TOP MOUNTAIN ROAD
Feb 10th -
Company 35 was called for a tree down blocking the
highway on Broad Top Mountain Road on Tuesday at 13: 15
hours. Chief 35 arrived on scene to find Penn Dot
already working to remove the downed tree. 35 Fire
Police were held for traffic control and the remainder
of the box was placed back in service.
VEHICLE FIRE OFF
RAYSTOWN ROAD

Feb 8th -
Co.35 was called for a pick up
truck on fire behind a junk yard
on Raystown Road on Sunday at
16:41. First arriving personnel
radioed Chief 35 while en-route
to the scene to inform him this
vehicle was in a remote area
with no access for Engine 35 and
other apparatus due on the call.
He then contacted Bedford County
911 to special call Brush 3 to
the scene. All 35 apparatus was
staged on Raystown Road and
their crews were sent back to
the scene in personal four wheel
drive vehicles to keep the fire
in check. Brush 3 arrived and
the fully involved late model
pickup fire was extinguished.
Chief 35 returned the box to
service at 17:24.

ANOTHER CHIMNEY
FIRE WITH 36 FOR THE TRUCK
Feb 6th -
Company 36 and Truck 35 got hit out for a Chimney fire
on Main Street in Six Mile on Tuesday at 13:02. Chimney
was found to be plugged so 35 & 36 crews cleaned the
chimney and assisted with basement ventilation during
the process. The call ended at 14:01.
TRUCK CALL FOR
CHIMNEY FIRE ON HORTON ROAD
Feb 5th -
Company 36 and Truck 35 were dispatched for Chimney Fire
on Horton Road in Langdondale at 17:26 Thursday evening.
Chief 36 arrived with normal conditions and held his
units and Truck 35 on scene. Investigation found
problems with the furnace pipe with no fire in the
Chimney. Chief 36 placed the box in service at 18:14.

SIX MILE RUN ROAD

the 36-01 box for a house fire
in downtown Six Mile Run on
Wednesday at 15:13. The First
arriving 36 units found a two
story wood frame dwelling well
off upon their arrival.

transferred command to Chief 35.
Chief 35, acting Command 36,
assigned engine crews from 36 &
35 to perform an interior attack
of the first floor, working
lines from Wagon 36. Windows on
Division 1 & 2 were taken out to
allow crews to make entry and
prevent further exposure to the
building on Side ‘D’. The roof
was then opened for vertical
ventilation. Tankers 35, 36 & 41
supplied the attack engine on
Side A. Rescue 36 along with
Engine 32 & Tankers 32 & 40 were
assigned to Side ‘C’ operations
under the Direction of Chief 17. |

Crews laddered a second floor porch roof for access to
Division 2 as the interior stairs were burned out.
Attack lines from Rescue 36 were then advanced to
Division 2 for secondary interior attack. The heavy fire
was brought under control about 15 minutes into the
call. A lengthy overhaul process pursued in the
extremely cold temperatures and concluded with a Class
‘A’ foam application on the complete interior. Rescue
35’s cascade was used to fill SCBA cylinders. Engine 17
was the water supply engine at a dry hydrant above town
to fill tankers. Blair County Station 60 handled the RIT
assignment. Transfer Companies utilized were Company 41,
56 & 3. The call ended at 18:59 hours. Chief 36
requested a PA State Fire Marshal to the scene today to
help investigate the cause of the fire. The Red Cross
was called to support the family made homeless by the
fire.

HOUSE FIRE ON
OAKRIDGE ROAD IN LINCOLN TWP.

Feb 3rd -
Huntingdon County 911 dispatched
the 3-6 Box for a house fire on
Oak Ridge Road in Lincoln
Township at 23:27. Lieutenant 3
arrived on scene with a fully
involved large two story
dwelling and immediately
requested second alarm tankers
due the remote location. He
reported that all family
residents of the structure had
escaped safely. Engine 3, 6 & 35
were brought into the scene for
a defensive attack supported by
tankers from 3, 6 17, 35, 36,
20, 21, 1, 18 and 80. Chief 3
riding in on Engine 3 assumed
command. Steep and Icy access
roads eliminated the means for a
routine tanker shuttle and
forced the crews to work from
nurse tankers being supplied by
the small and more maneuverable
tankers on the call. Chief 6 was
assigned as staging officer and
Engine 17 handled the fill site
operations. The call ended at
03:00 on a snowy and frigid
Wednesday morning. Transfer
Companies used to man empty
stations were 5, 10 & 41.

CHIMNEY FIRE IN
FINLEYVILLE
Feb 3rd -
Company 36 and Truck 35 worked a Chimney Fire on Winter

Feb 2nd -
Company 17, Special Unit 21 and Rescue 35 were
dispatched for a motor vehicle accident on Cooks Road in
Todd Township at 15:25 on Monday. Company 21 Officer
arriving on scene reported no entrapment and all
patients out of the vehicle. Rescue 35 was placed
available at 15:30.

STRUCTURE FIRE
Feb 1st -
The
35 -01 Box was struck for a reported structure fire at
919 Lower Main Street on Sunday at 10:17. Chief 35
arrived on the scene with smoke coming from the eaves
and roof area as reported by neighbors. Upon further
investigation it was discovered that a downdraft to the
outside furnace pipe filled the attic area with smoke.
Chief 35 held company 35 units on scene and placed the
remainder of the box back in service. 35 crews performed
ventilation to clear the smoke from the residence. All
35 units were back in quarters and available at 10:50.
MVA ON RAYSTOWN
ROAD
Jan 27th -
Company 35 & Rescue 36 were dispatched for a motor
vehicle accident on Raystown Road near Stoudnour
Petroleum on Tuesday at 16:56. Fire Marshal 35 arrived
on scene with one vehicle on its side and both
passengers out of the car. The patients were assessed,
packaged and transported to the hospital. Fire Company
personnel assisted with scene safety. Rescue units were
placed back into service at 18:47 and the scene was
turned over to the 35 Fire Police unit until the arrival
of PSP.

Jan 18th -
Company 35 & Rescue 36 were dispatched for an MVA at
Saxton Road and 16th Street on Sunday at 22:47. Chief 35
arrived on scene to find a car had slid off the highway
into a culvert with no damage to the passengers or the
vehicle and placed the box back in service at 22:59.

Jan 16th -
At
01:45 Company 35 and Tanker 3 were dispatched for a
local alarm to extinguish some hot spots from the fire
that occurred on Raystown Road on Thursday evening.
Engine 35’s crew used two 1&3/4 hand lines and Class A
foam to hit the remaining areas of fire. All apparatus
was back in quarters and ready at 02:45.
HOUSE FIRE ON
RAYSTOWN ROAD IN HOPEWELL TWP

A
full first alarm assignment on the 35-04 box was
dispatched for a house fire on Raystown Road near
Cherrytown at 16:56 on Thursday. Chief 35 arrived on
scene with the second floor fully involved and all
residents out of the large farmhouse. He assumed command
and ordered Truck 35 and Engine 35 to engage master
operations for an initial defensive attack from Side A.
Wagon 36 was the next engine in and was ordered to the D
side also for master stream operations. After the
heaviest fire was knocked down crews laddered the second
floor via the porch roof for extinguishment and
overhaul. First alarm Tankers 35, 36, 3 & 17 supplied
water to the scene. Early attempts to gain access to
the local fill site water sources were unsuccessful due
to snow and ice, so Engine 17 was assigned to fill
tankers from the hydrant on Liberty Street in Saxton.
Due to the extra travel time required, Chief 35
requested the second alarm tankers to the scene
including Tankers 6, 12, 21, 41, and Blair County 60 &
80. Huntingdon Fire Department handled the RIT
assignment and Company 41 stood by in 35’s house. The
long call ended at 20:55 hours.
This
was a very difficult and devastating fire because of the
frigid temperatures and degree of fire involvement, but
even more so because it belonged to one of our own
members. The entire 35 firehouse family and area
residents are asked to please reach out to the Baker
family after their terrible loss.

TRUCK WORKS
CHIMNEY FIRE WITH CO.36
Jan 11th -
Truck 35 was dispatched with Company 36 for a Chimney
Fire in Hopewell on Sunday morning at 11:30 hours. The
aerial was raised to the roof and the Truck crew
assisted with extinguishment, chimney cleaning and
ventilation. Chief 36 placed all units available at
12:23 hours.

RESCUE TEAM CALLED OUT
FOR ANOTHER HORSE
RESCUE
Jan 9th -
For the second time in
less than a month, Company 35’s Technical Rescue team
was dispatched to Old Bedford Village to assist the
Bedford County Animal Rescue Team with a horse down. The
incident on Friday night was similar to the previous
call that entailed the task of raising the 2000 pound
Draft horse to its feet. The animal had been down for
several hours and fears were that hypothermia along with
the illness the animal was suffering, were becoming life
threatening. The two teams along with the Bedford Fire
Department worked together using heavy equipment,
harnesses, air bags and other equipment and after three
hours managed to complete the task. The call ended at
2045 hours.

2009 - VEHICLE FIRE WITH CO.36
Jan 9th, 2009 -
Company 35 was hit out at 06:18 hours on Friday for a
vehicle fire on Land Fill Road assisting company 36.
Deputy 36 arrived on scene with a working car fire but
handled the call with his units and placed 35 apparatus
back into service while en route.
