911
Emergency Signs
The Saxton Volunteer Fire
Company is asking the residents of Bedford &
Huntingdon Counties in their service area to
help them increase their response time for
fire and ambulance calls. It is very
difficult to find a 911 address along many
of the roads and streets in our service
area. When a resident calls the 911 Center
with an emergency they are asked to give
their 911 address. Based on this address the
emergency services will respond to your
need. If your 911 address is not displayed
adequately it will take the emergency
services personnel precious seconds to find
the right location. These seconds may mean
life or death to a loved one or your
residence was saved or it was a total loss.
You may think
that the address you put on your mailbox or
on your house in a rural area is sufficient.
The problem for the emergency service
personnel is that in most cases the numbers
on your mail box are too small and the
numbers on your house can not be seen from
the road as we drive by. The emergency
responders need an address that is easily
recognized along the road. If they have to
search for an address on a mailbox or house
it waste precious time while they are trying
to find you.
The Saxton Volunteer Fire
Company is selling 911 Address Signs, which
have been determined to be the size and have
sufficient reflectivity to be spotted and
recognized in a time of an emergency whether
it is day or night. They also have the
address displayed on both sides so when they
are erected they will be visible regardless
of the direction the emergency responders
approach your location. Since they are
mounted along the roadway the emergency
services personnel will be able to spot them
quickly
The Saxton Volunteer Fire
Company is making the signs available for
just $15.00.
