14
members of the Saxton Technical
Rescue Team now part of the
Pennsylvania Squad 3 USAR Team
attended a special training
exercise at the Harrisburg Area
Community College on Saturday
morning. The exercise was
handled as a true incident with
the team being dispatched by the
Bedford County 911 Center at
6:15 a.m. The team assembled,
checked their equipment list and
went through their medical
evaluations according to team
protocol. Rescue 35 with the
Technical Rescue Trailer
traveled to Carlisle where they
met the Squad 3 USAR units and
then convoyed to Harrisburg.
Upon arrival the team was given
their instructions on the
simulated incident. Crews worked
to set up the Command post,
establish site communications
and stage equipment prior to
going to work. The crews worked
all day on Tech Search,
breeching, breaking, cutting,
shoring, confined space entry,
patient extrication and numerous
other technical rescue skills
during the event. It was a great
day!
The Saxton Team would like to
thank Chief Gary Dennis, USAR
team leader and his entire Squad
3 team along with Randy Padfield
from the Harrisburg Area
Community College for making
this great training.
