CPR RECERTIFICATION CLASSES CONDUCTED BY

MEMBERS OF THE SAXTON EMS TEAM

Aug 25th - An American Heart BLS/Healthcare Provider Class was held two evenings last week. We had a total of 24 people attend the two sessions.  Ten on Thursday evening and fourteen on Sunday evening. In addition to demonstrating the required skills necessary to recertify in the American Heart class, all of the students participated in practice stations on suction, insertion of oral pharyngeal airways, and oxygen use during CPR. How to use an AED is part of the BLS/Healthcare Provider class curriculum, and the students used two types of demonstrator AED's to update those skills. We also took time refreshing our knowledge on the use of the actual AED's we have in service. The newest procedures for opening a foreign body obstructed airway were reviewed. All students passed the required written examination. The courses were conducted by our in-house instructor Patricia Carnell. We all thank her for all her ongoing efforts in keeping our certifications current and our skills sharp!
